National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey, 2004-05, Expanded
 

The 2004–05 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Survey (NATSIHS) Expanded CURF is a file of unidentified statistical unit record data containing the following information about 10,439 Indigenous persons enumerated in the 2004–05 NATSIHS or 2004–05 National Health Survey (NHS) and (for available items) 25,511 non-Indigenous persons enumerated in the 2004–05 NHS:

  • detailed demographic, education, labour force and income characteristics;
  • demographic details on all persons in the household including age, sex, indigenous status and relationship in household;
  • household information including tenure type, composition, dwelling structure, financial stress and income;
  • geographic details including State/Territory and Remoteness;
  • private health insurance arrangements and coverage by government health concession cards;
  • long term medical conditions they experience, with a focus on the National Health Priority Area conditions of diabetes, cancer, asthma, osteoporosis, arthritis and cardiovascular conditions;
  • long term medical conditions reported as being due to an injury;
  • social and emotional well-being;
  • recent events resulting in injury, including details of the injuries sustained and actions taken;
  • recent visits to hospitals and day clinics;
  • recent consultations with doctors, dentists and other health professionals;
  • unmet need;
  • days away from work or study due to illness or as carers, and other days of reduced activity due to illness or injury;
  • selected health related lifestyle behaviours, including smoking, alcohol consumption, exercise, dietary behaviours and substance use;
  • men's health;
  • discrimination;
  • self assessed height and weight;
  • adult and child immunisation;
  • breastfeeding; and
  • selected data on women's health, including screening practices for breast and cervical cancer, and contraceptive practices.



This Expanded CURF is only available via the ABS Remote Access Data Laboratory and in Expanded format.
