The 2003 Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers Basic CURF contains data on 5,145 persons in 554 cared accommodation establishments, and 36,088 persons from 13,998 private dwellings and 272 other non-private dwellings. The data include demographic information such as state, remoteness; household, family and income unit types; age, sex, registered marital status, birthplace, year of arrival in Australia; labour force details, including occupation and industry; school attendance and type, current study and educational achievement; details of income and main source of income; tenure and type of dwelling structure and details on access to a computer and the Internet. Information was also collected on disability status, disabling condition, severity of core activity restrictions and employment and education limitations; need for and receipt of help for a range of daily life activities; level of and reasons for unmet need; types of providers of formal and informal care; access to transport; participation in community activities; relationships of primary carers to recipients, type of care undertaken, availability of training and support for carers, and impacts of the caring role on carers.
