The 1993 Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers CURF contains data on 4,816 residents in 512 health establishments (type 3 special dwellings) and 42,060 persons from 15,717 households in private dwellings and other special dwellings. The data include capital city and rest-of-state identifiers, but no State/Territory identifiers; household, family and income unit types; index decile of relative socio-economic disadvantage; age, sex, marital status, birthplace, year of arrival in Australia, birthplace of parents and main language spoken at home; labour force details, occupation, student status, educational achievement, employment and education limitations, details of income and source of income; tenure and type of dwelling structure; disability status, disabling conditions and severity of handicap; need for and receipt of help for a range of daily life activities; level of and reasons for unmet need; types of providers of formal and informal care; access to transport; emergency arrangements; participation in community activities; relationships of principal carers to recipients, type of care undertaken, availability of training and support for carers, and impact on carers of the caring role.
