The 1999 Child Care Survey CURFs consist of 9,831 unidentifiable individual statistical records containing data on children aged under 12 years living in private dwellings.
The data on the Basic CURF includes demographic characteristics, weekly cost of child care, weekly hours of child care, number of weekdays of child care, reasons used child care, requirements for additional child care, reason additional care not used, whether received assistance from Child-care Cash Rebate, whether child care use changed, reasons child care use changed, parents' source/s of income and whether parents studying.
The data on the Expanded CURF includes demographic characteristics, use of child care, weekly cost of child care, weekly hours of child care, number of weekdays of child care, reasons used child care, requirements for additional child care, reason additional care not used, whether received assistance from Child-care Cash Rebate, whether child care use had changed, reasons child care use changed, parents' source/s of income, whether parents studying, working arrangements of parents normally used to assist with care of children, details about long day care, details about preschool and details about before and after school care.
The Basic CURF can be accessed on both CD-ROM and via the ABS Remote Access Data Laboratory (RADL) and the Expanded CURF can only be accessed via the RADL.
