Skill Level 3: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, AQF Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant experience

Skill Level 3: NZQF Level 4 qualification, or at least three years of relevant experience

Inspects saw blades to identify any damage or wear
Dismantles and reassembles precision sawing instruments using hand and power tools, or specially designed machines
Repairs and replaces defective parts by replacing or adjusting teeth on saw blades, welding, or brazing
Sharpens saw blades using grinding or filing techniques
Tests the sharpness and performance of saw blades
Cleans and maintains saw maintenance equipment
