	Keep up to date with ABS Geography From July 2011 the ABS has been progressively replacing the current Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) with the new Australian Statistical Geography Standard (ASGS) for the collection and dissemination of geographically classified statistics. The final edition of the ASGC (July 2011) was released in October 2011. Local Government Areas (LGAs) are one of the non-ABS structures of the ASGS and are approximated by Mesh Blocks. The ABS will continue to support LGAs with the data it currently provides.
