Superannuation (pension) funds

Total unconsolidated assets of superannuation funds rose $177.8b (5.6%) to $3,353.4b during the June quarter.

Key movements were as follows:

  • units in trusts rose $77.3b (6.5%)
  • assets overseas rose $48.8b (8.1%)
  • shares rose $42.6b (8.2%)
  • short term securities fell $10.9b (-18.2%)
  • land, buildings and equipment rose $8.9b (4.8%)

Public offer (retail) unit trusts

Total unconsolidated assets of public offer (retail) trusts rose $18.8b (4.2%) to $461.5b during the June quarter.

Key movements were as follows:

  • assets overseas rose $8.8b (11.5%)
  • land, buildings and equipment rose $5.4b (3.7%)
  • units in trusts rose $3.0b (3.2%)
  • shares rose $1.3b (2.4%)

Cross investment within public offer (retail) unit trusts rose $0.8b (2.0%) to $38.9b.

Life insurance

Total unconsolidated assets of life insurance corporations rose $0.7b (0.6%) to $127.4b during the June quarter.

Key movements were as follows:

  • shares fell $1.6b (-10.2%)
  • other non-financial assets rose $1.0b (48.9%)
  • bonds, etc. rose $1.0b (3.6%)
  • deposits fell $0.9b (-13.8%)
  • assets overseas rose $0.8b (4.7%)

All other managed funds institutions

Total unconsolidated assets of:

  • friendly societies rose $0.5b (6.0%) to $8.7b
  • common funds rose $0.3b (2.9%) to $11.1b
  • cash management trusts fell $2.1b (-6.4%) to $31.3b
