Australia

• Skill Level 3: AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, AQF Certificate IV, or at least three years of relevant experience

New Zealand

• Skill Level 3: NZQF Level 4 qualification, or at least three years of relevant experience

High levels of personal commitment, physical fitness and sporting ability may substitute for formal qualifications or years of experience.

• Rides horses in competitive races, race trials, and in exercise
• Maintains a high level of physical fitness through regular exercise and training
• Monitors the health and condition of horses and reports any concerns to trainers
• Attends race meetings and participates in pre-race briefings
• Weighs in and out before and after races to ensure compliance with weight requirements
