Prior to the February 2014 release of Gender Indicators, Australia, data for this series was sourced from the ABS Adult Literacy and Life Skills Survey, Australia, 2006 (cat. no. 4228.0). Because this survey has since been discontinued, this table now sources data from the ABS Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies, Australia. For methodological reasons, data from these two surveys are not comparable. ^^^ Series was changed in previous release. Prior to the February 2014 release of Gender Indicators, Australia, data for this series was sourced from the ABS Survey of Education and Training. Because this survey has since been discontinued, this series now sources data from the ABS Survey of Work-Related Training and Adult Learning. For methodological reasons, data from these two surveys are not comparable. age std. Rates have been age standardised in 5 year ranges to 75 years and over to the Estimated Resident Population (ERP) as at 30 June 2001. (a) When financial activities of the household are constrained by shortage of money. As male deaths include those perinatal deaths of sex indeterminate, only the total rate is presented. (h) Perinatal death rates are calculated per 1,000 all births for the calendar year. (i) Based on 2009 National Health Medical Research Council 'Guidelines to Reduce Health Risks from Drinking Alcohol'. The 2009 guidelines align the definition of what constitutes 'risky' alcohol consumption for males and females. That is, the consumption of more than two standard drinks per day by either a male or female, presents a risk over that individual's 'lifetime'. (j) Based on measured height and weight.
