Census test night is

24 August 2015

The Census test allows the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) to trial new collection systems and procedures, which are designed to ensure the Census is fast, easy and secure for everyone in Australia to complete.

Approximately 35,000 households throughout New South Wales and Queensland have been selected to participate in the test.

Selected households would have received a letter or form in the mail, with instructions on how to complete the test.

For the purposes of this test, households should fill out the form based on the people who are in the household on Census test night - Tuesday, 25 August 2015.

If you forget or do not submit a response, you may receive a reminder in the mail. Your participation is important. Only households that have received a letter can participate in the test.

Following the test, the ABS will use the findings to improve collection systems and procedures for the 2016 Census. This ensures the Census is quick and easy to complete and helps the ABS to run a more efficient Census and provide better information for future decisions.
