Job vacancies over time
Job vacancies increased by 4.2% (14,000 vacancies) in the three months to November 2024 (seasonally adjusted). This is the first increase since May 2022 when job vacancies reached their historical peak.
Job vacancies in November 2024 were 51.3% higher than they were in February 2020, prior to the start of the pandemic. The ongoing high level of vacancies reflected the continuing labour shortages in many industries.
The Job Vacancies Survey was suspended between August 2008 to August 2009 (inclusive).
