Job vacancies over time

Job vacancies decreased by 5.2% (18,100 vacancies) in the three months to August 2024 (seasonally adjusted). Despite this being the ninth consecutive quarterly decrease, the level of job vacancies in August 2024 remained elevated. Job vacancies were 45.1% higher than they were in February 2020, prior to the start of the pandemic. The ongoing high level of vacancies reflected the continuing labour shortages in many industries.
