In the 2016 Census, there were 150,720 people in Capricornia. Of these 51.0% were male and 49.0% were female. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 5.3% of the population.

The median age of people in Capricornia was 37 years. Children aged 0 - 14 years made up 20.7% of the population and people aged 65 years and over made up 14.1% of the population.
