In the 2016 Census, there were 58,106 people in Australia who were born in Iran. Of these 54.4% were male and 45.6% were female.

Of the population born in Iran who usually live in Australia, 8.7% were aged 0 - 14 years and 7.4% were aged 65 years and over. The median age of people in Australia who were born in Iran was 35 years.
