Demographics & education

In the 2011 Census, there were 394 people in Kakadu of these 55.6% were male and 44.4% were female. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 62.6% of the population.

Of employed people in Kakadu, 11.0% worked 1 to 15 hours, 13.2% worked 16 to 24 hours and 40.7% worked 40 hours or more.

The median age of people employed full-time in Kakadu was 40 years and for people who were employed part-time was 38 years.

The most common occupations in Kakadu included Labourers 27.1%, Professionals 22.1%, Community and Personal Service Workers 14.9%, Managers 12.7%, Technicians and Trades Workers 6.1%, Clerical and Administrative Workers 6.1%, Machinery Operators And Drivers 5.0% and Sales Workers 2.2%.

Of the families in Kakadu, 58.1% were couple families with children, 24.2% were couple families without children and 17.7% were one parent families.
