In the 2011 Census, there were 708 people in The Caves of these 53.1% were male and 46.9% were female. Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people made up 2.5% of the population.

The median age of people in The Caves was 39 years. Children aged 0 - 14 years made up 21.2% of the population and people aged 65 years and over made up 9.7% of the population.
