During the week prior to the 2006 Census, 4,077 people aged 15 years and over in 2027 were in the labour force. Of these 67.2% worked full-time, 25.0% worked part-time, 3.2% were away from work, 2.1% were employed but did not state their hours worked and 2.5% were unemployed. 2,201 people were not in the labour force.

In the 2006 Census, of the employed people aged 15 years and over in 2027, the most common responses for industry of employment included Legal and Accounting Services 7.3%, Auxiliary Finance and Investment Services 6.5%, Architectural, Engineering and Technical Services 2.8%, Management and Related Consulting Services 2.7% and Depository Financial Intermediation 2.6%.
