Community Profiles
Community Profiles are excellent tools for researching, planning and analysing geographic areas, enabling users to compare different geographic areas through a number of social, economic and demographic variables. Data will be available for either Place of Usual Residence (i.e. where people usually live) or Place of Enumeration (i.e. where people are counted on Census night, rather than where they 'usually' live or their 'usual address'). The release dates for the profiles are outlined in Chapter 8: Release Plans. Basic Community Profile This profile contains a series of tables showing basic Census characteristics on persons, families and dwellings in the selected area. The data will be based on place of usual residence. Appendix 2: Basic Community Profile - List of Tables Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (Indigenous) Profile This profile contains a series of tables showing Census characteristics of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families and dwellings in the selected area. Some tables include comparisons with the non-Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander population. The data will be based on place of usual residence. Appendix 3: Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples (Indigenous) Profile - List of TablesTime Series Profile This profile compares data from the 2001, 2006 and 2011 Censuses where the classifications are comparable. If a classification has been revised between Censuses, data will be output on the classification used for the 2011 Census. Footnotes will explain the concordance between the previous classifications and the 2011 classification. The data are based on place of enumeration (where people were counted on Census night). The change in the geographical classification standards for the 2011 Census will have an effect on the Time Series Profiles. The Statistical Local Area (SLA) does not exist as a defined region in the new standard. As a transitional arrangement, and only for the 2011 Census, Time Series Profiles will be released at the SLA level. More detail about the new geographical standard is provided in Chapter 6: Changes Between the 2006 and 2011 Censuses. Time series data from the 2011 Census will be available for Australia, States and Territories, 2011 Statistical Local Areas and 2011 Local Government Areas. Appendix 4: Time Series Profile - List of Tables Place of Enumeration Profile This profile contains a series of tables showing basic Census characteristics of persons, families and dwellings in the selected area. The data will be based on place of enumeration. Appendix 5: Place of Enumeration Profile - List of Tables Expanded Community Profile This profile is the most comprehensive Community Profile in the series, providing extended data on Census characteristics of persons, families and dwellings. Tables within this profile contain more detailed versions of the standard Basic Community Profile tables, plus additional tables relating to relationships within a family, living costs and dwelling structures. The data will be based on place of usual residence. Appendix 6: Expanded Community Profile - List of Tables Working Population Profile This Profile contains a series of tables on Census characteristics of employed persons in the selected area. These data will be based on Journey to Work (a person's Place of Work) areas, i.e. where people work.
