TEMPERATURE
Temperatures in the MDB are cooler than most parts of the country because of its location in south eastern Australia (map 1.5). Temperature anomalies measure the deviation from the mean annual temperature (the mean is calculated from 1960 to 1990). In 2005-06, most areas in the Basin were hotter than average by as much as 20C (as measured by maximum and minimum temperature anomalies, see map 1.6 and 1.7).
