COLLECTION HISTORY
From June quarter 2008, the Interstate Trade collection is being conducted under the Census and Statistics Act. Prior to June quarter 2008, the data for Interstate Trade was collected under the Queensland Act: 'The Statistical Returns Act, 1896'.
In June quarter 2008, a new survey methodology was introduced for the Interstate Trade collection. This new methodology included changes to the scope of the survey. Prior to this the collection was a 'limited scope census', and included any entity which moved more than $400,000 of goods into or out of Queensland in a financial year. The scope changed in 2008 to all businesses with State of Operation Queensland and Business Activity Statement (BAS) stratification turnover greater than $1,000,000 that do interstate trade.
In 1997, the ABS and Queensland Treasury redeveloped the IST frame. From June quarter 2008, the frame for the IST collection will be maintained from the Business Register.
