Purpose
This survey aims to measure the value of inventories and sales for private businesses in Australia.
Description
The scope of the survey excludes private households and public sector business units (i.e. all departments, authorities and other organisations owned and/or controlled by the Commonwealth Government, State and local governments). Primary producer marketing boards are classified as public sector and are also excluded. In addition, non-employers are not included in the survey.
Method of collection
Data are collected by mail questionnaire in a quarterly survey of private businesses, including businesses in the energy industry.

The two ANZSIC classifications covered are Petroleum, coal, chemical and associated products (25) and Electricity and Gas supply (36).
Geographic coverage
Australia.
