Purpose
To provide comprehensive data on Australia's research and development (R&D) effort.
Business R&D data are published by industry.
Description
The scope of the survey is all businesses in Australia which undertaken R&D. The 1996--97 R&D survey comprised a complete enumeration of businesses identified by the ABS as likely to have carried out R&D activity. There are approximately 3,500 businesses undertaking R&D in Australia each year.
