Purpose
The Mining Collection is an annual survey which collects information about the operation and financial performance of employing businesses classified to the mining industry on the ABS register of businesses.
Description
The Mining Collection is conducted as a component of the ABS integrated economic statistics system. Data from each industry sector conform to the same basic conceptual standards, allowing comparative analysis between and across different industry sectors.
A full census is conducted in respect of the businesses in the following industries which are classified to Australian and New Zealand Standard Industrial Classification (ANZSIC) Division B (Mining):
Coal mining (ANZSIC Subdivision 11)
Oil and gas extraction (ANZSIC Subdivision 12)
Metal ore mining (ANZSIC Subdivision 13)
