NUTRITION The 2012-13 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey (NATSINPAS) is the first national Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nutrition survey of adults and children (aged 2 years and over). The NATSINPAS nutrition component collected similar information to the nutrition component of the 2011-12 National Nutrition and Physical Activity Survey (NNPAS); however, aspects of enumeration differed between the two surveys. These enumeration differences are:
Analysis of the 2012-13 NATSINPAS suggests that, like in other nutrition surveys, there has been some under-reporting of food intake by participants in this survey. Given the association of under-reporting with overweight/obesity and consciousness of socially acceptable/desirable dietary patterns, under-reporting is unlikely to affect all foods and nutrients equally.
