Pears are a significant fruit crop in Victoria. In 2004-05, Victorian farmers produced 130,000 tonnes of pears, well ahead of the next highest producer (Western Australia with 8,900 tonnes). Nearly all pears were grown in the Goulburn Statistical Division (SD).

The main pear varieties grown in Victoria in 2004-05 were:

  • WBC (which includes Bartlett, Duchess and Williams) (66,100 tonnes)
  • Packham (50,600 tonnes)
  • Beurre Bosc (8,500 tonnes)
