Purpose
This survey aims to measure the value of new capital expenditure by private businesses in Australia.
Description
This collection contains estimates of actual and expected new capital expenditure by private businesses in Australia. The series have been compiled from data collected in a quarterly sample survey of private businesses, including businesses in the energy industry. Private households and public sector businesses (i.e. all departments, authorities and other organisations owned or controlled by the Commonwealth Government, State or local governments) are outside the scope of the survey.
Method of collection
Data are collected by mail questionnaire.

Most data are available quarterly. Quarters ended 31 March, 30 June, 30 September and 31 December.
Historical data
Data are available from 1987.
