Its role has changed in recent years to become a compendium of statistics, with data in both tabular and graphic format, together with some analysis of the statistics. Topics covered include climate/physiography, government, demography, labour, education, health, social, crime and justice, service industries, trade, agriculture, manufacturing, mining and energy, commerce, finance, housing and construction, transport/communication and tourism. A feature article is included each year. The book also includes illustrations, and an appendix of historical statistics.
