AGE AT MARRIAGE, SEPARATION AND DIVORCE People between 40-44 years of age had the highest percentage of divorces granted, with 16.7% of males and 17.1% of females being granted a divorce falling in the age group in 2011. The median age at marriage for males divorcing in 2011 was 28.3 years, compared to 25.8 years for females. Median age at separation for males granted a divorce in 2011 was 41.0 years, whereas the figure for females was 38.3 years. In 2011, the median age of males at divorce was 44.5 years and 41.7 years for females. The median age at divorce has generally been increasing for both males and females over the past 20 years. The median age for males and females in 2011 increased slightly compared to 2010, from 44.4 to 44.5 years for males, and from 41.5 to 41.7 years for females.
