ABANDONED INNOVATIVE ACTIVITY
During 2007-08, the proportion of businesses that reported abandoning at least one type of innovative activity (i.e those who ceased development of an innovation prior to completion or introduction) was relatively low across all four types and employment size ranges. The highest proportions of abandoned innovative activity was among businesses employing 5-19 persons, at 9%, and businesses with 20-199 persons employed, at 8%. During the year ended 30 June 2008, the proportion of businesses which abandoned at least one type of innovative activity ranged from 3% for the Transport, postal and warehousing industry to 12% for the Wholesale trade industry.
