WHEAT GRAIN COMMITTED

In March 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use or export fell to 6.9 million tonnes, a 10% decrease from February 2011 but an increase of 36% from March 2010.

Of the total wheat grain committed, 5.6 million tonnes were contracted for export. In February 2011, all states reported decreased export commitments from February 2011, except South Australia which increased by 156 thousand tonnes .

Compared to February 2011, wheat grain committed for domestic use remained steady at 1.3 million tonnes in March 2011. This is only slightly less than the comparative total of 1.4 million tonnes from March 2010.
