CONSUMER PRICE INDEXES Change in Consumer Price Index, By Group, Melbourne - September quarter 2010 to December quarter 2010 Between December quarter 2009 and December quarter 2010, the All groups CPI for Melbourne rose by 3.1%. The All groups CPI weighted average of the eight capital cities rose by 2.7% over the same period. The biggest annual increases for Melbourne were recorded in Alcohol and tobacco (12.3%), Education (8.3%), Housing (6.2%), Health (5.4%) and Financial and insurance services (2.9%). The groups that recorded the largest decreases for the year were Clothing and footwear (-5.1%) and Recreation (-2.7%).
