CLASSIFICATIONS AND STANDARDS UPDATE
INFORMATION PAPERS TO BE RELEASED
The Information Paper: Changes in International Trade in Goods Statistics - Countries and Ports (cat. no. 5368.0.55.013) will be released on 9 July 2009. This paper outlines changes from the July 2009 reference month to country and port classifications used in the dissemination of Australian import and export statistics. The changed classifications will be reflected in import and export series from January 2009. These changes will impact on data released in the July 2009 issues of this publication, the publication International Merchandise Imports, Australia (cat. no. 5439.0) and related detailed trade data.
The Information Paper: Revisions to international standards in quarterly Balance of Payments and International Investment Position statistics from September 2009 (cat. no. 5302.0.55.002) will be released on 22 July 2009. This paper describes the changes to the international standards and the impact on the presentation of statistics in the quarterly Balance of Payments and International Investment Position, Australia (cat. no. 5302.0). The paper further advises timing of the proposed changes and provides access to mock-ups of the proposed publication and the related spreadsheets. The mock-ups of the spreadsheets will be reissued in late October 2009 with new series identifiers.
An Information paper: Revisions to international standards in monthly international trade in goods and services statistics from August 2009, 2009 (cat. no. 5368.0.55.012) advising the impact on this publication of the changes to international standards was released on 17 June 2009.
INDUSTRY STATISTICS
An update to the Information paper: Changes to international trade in goods industry statistics, July 2009 (cat. no 5368.0.55.011) is being released with this issue. The Customs Tariff to ANZSIC 2006 correspondence has been revised in Table 3 and Table 4 to include four new tariff items with operative dates of 1 July 2009.
COUNTRY STATISTICS
An update to the ABS publication Australian Harmonized Exports Commodity Classification (AHECC) (cat. no. 1233.0) is being released with this issue. The only change is an update to include the new United Nations country codes described in the first information paper mentioned above. The new codes are included in the Countries tab of Table 1: AHECC Summary of Classification, Codes and Abbreviations. There are no changes to export commodity codes in this update.
