- Diamond production has been volatile in recent quarters. Production quadrupled (in original terms) in the September quarter 2009, following a 87% fall in the previous quarter. The September 2009 figure was down by 49% compared with the same quarter of the previous year.
- Production of bauxite increased marginally (1.5%) in the September quarter 2009, following a small decrease (-2.3%) in the June quarter. Production levels were also lower (-2.8%) than in the same quarter of the previous year.
- The quantity of iron ore produced in the September quarter 2009 was almost 8% higher than in the previous quarter and 14% higher than in the September quarter 2008.
