TRADE IN SERVICES BY COUNTRY

During 2007-08, Australia received $287m in royalty credits for music, film, television programs and video tapes, from trade with other countries. The majority of credits (74% or $212m) were from OECD countries, while 26% ($75m) were from non-OECD countries. Australia received $84m in royalty credits for music, film, television programs and video tapes from New Zealand, $58m from the USA and $43m from the UK.

In the same period, Australia accrued royalty debits worth $1,211m for selected cultural trades, with the vast majority (93%) paid to OECD countries. In 2007-08, Australia paid $752m to the USA for music, film, television programs and video tape royalties, which equates to more than half (62%) of all cultural debits.
