OVERVIEW
In 2010-11, the estimate of cultural expenditure by the Northern Territory Government was $78.1m, a fall of 11% from 2009-10. The 2010-11 estimate was 3% of the total of state and territory expenditure on cultural activities. Recurrent expenses accounted for 83% of Northern Territory Government cultural expenditure. The estimate of per person expenditure by the Northern Territory Government was $338.60, a fall of 12% from 2009-10. (Tables 4 and 11)
In 2010-11, the estimate of expenditure by the Northern Territory Government on Heritage activities decreased by 13% to $68.8m. Environmental heritage expenditure decreased by 22%, while expenditure on Other museums and cultural heritage increased by 7%.
NT GOVERNMENT HERITAGE EXPENDITURE
In 2010-11, the estimate of expenditure of Northern Territory Government funds for Arts activities rose 6% to $9.2m. Just over one-quarter (26%) of Arts expenditure was directed to the Other arts category. Expenditure on Performing arts venues decreased 15% to $1.7m.
