This division covers R&D directed towards the provision of commercial services to the economic and social development sectors.
It includes:
- financial, property and business support services;
- tourism;
- trade;
- water and waste services; and
- environmental sustainability of commercial services and tourism.
This division has six groups:
9001 Financial Services
9002 Property, Business Support Services and Trade
9003 Tourism
9004 Water and Waste Services
9098 Environmentally Sustainable Commercial Services and Tourism
9099 Other Commercial Services and Tourism
Exclusions:
a) Security services or surveillance systems for military purposes is included in Division 81 Defence; and for corrective purposes is included in Group 9404 Justice and the Law.
b) Management of energy consumption from commercial services and tourism is included in Group 8507 Energy Conservation and Efficiency.
c) Management of solid, liquid or gaseous waste generated as an integral process within an industry to minimise or prevent impacts on environment is included in respective industry divisions (e.g. Division 86 Manufacturing) and groups (e.g. Group 8698 Environmentally Sustainable Manufacturing).
d) Provision of construction services, including architectural and building management services and construction of water infrastructure, are included in Division 87 Construction.
e) Development of transport infrastructure and transport and freight services are included in Division 88 Transport.
f) Provision of information, communications and computing services, including media services, is included in Division 89 Information and Communication Services.
g) Issues relating to international trade are included in Group 9103 International Trade.
h) Calibration services are included in Group 9105 Measurement Standards and Calibration Services.
i) Music and theatre production, sport and services to sport activities (including sporting clubs), and recreational and amusement services mainly of a non-commercial nature (e.g. parks, botanical gardens) is included in Group 9501 Arts and Leisure.
j) Air quality; control of pests, diseases and exotic species; ecosystem assessment and management; flora, fauna and biodiversity; land and water management; rehabilitation of degraded areas; remnant vegetation and conservation areas; soils; and natural hazards in environments affected by commercial services and tourism are included in Division 96 Environment.
