OVERVIEW
In 2010-11, the estimate of cultural expenditure by the South Australian Government was $296.3m or 10% of the total estimate of expenditure of state and territory government cultural expenditure. This was a rise of 6% in 2010-11 following a 1% fall in 2009-10. Recurrent expenditure accounted for 82% of South Australian Government cultural expenditure. The estimate of per person expenditure by the South Australian Government was $181.40. (Tables 4 and 8)
In 2010-11, the estimate of expenditure of South Australian Government funds on Heritage activities decreased 4% to $183.2m. Contributing to this fall was a 21% decrease in expenditure on Other museums and cultural heritage.
SA GOVERNMENT HERITAGE EXPENDITURE
In 2010-11, the estimate of expenditure of South Australian Government funds for Arts activities increased by 26% to $113.1m. The main driver of this increase was the Film and video production and distribution category, up 85% on 2009-10. This category accounted for 40% of Arts expenditure, followed by Other arts (24%) and Performing arts venues (18%).
