- In the September quarter 2009, the established house price index rose for the second consecutive quarter. The index figure (194.9) was 4.5% higher than in the previous quarter and 4.4% higher than in the same quarter of 2008.
- The project house price index increased slightly in the September quarter 2009, being 0.3% higher than in the previous quarter and 1% higher than in the September quarter 2008.
- Of the two house price indices, the project homes index has shown more stability in recent times, increasing between 1% and 4% each quarter since September quarter 2007. In contrast, the established house price index has been quite volatile, dropping to a low of 181.6 in March 2009, after reaching 195.3 in the same quarter of the previous year.
