AVOs are legal orders which aim to protect individuals from violence, threats and harassment. There are two types of AVOs:
COLLECTION HISTORY Collection commenced: 2013 Break in series: None Other details: COLLECTION METHODOLOGY Details on all ADVOs are extracted from the New South Wales Police Computerised Operational Policing System (COPS) database. SCOPE AND COVERAGE Adults within New South Wales that were victims of violence, threats or harassment who had been granted an AVO against a perpetrator; and perpetrators of violence, threats or harassment who have had an AVO taken out against them. DEFINITION OF FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE Domestic violence-related AVO (ADVO) data is published in this dataset. ADVOs are made by the court to protect individuals from violence, threats and harassment from a spouse, de facto partner, ex-partner, family member, carer or person living in the same household.
