This database records the number of calls to the DV Line and information about callers and/or victims of domestic violence. Information is used primarily for reporting purposes. DESCRIPTION DV Line provides telephone counselling, information and referrals for people who are experiencing or have experienced domestic violence. The DV Line is a service for women and gay men experiencing domestic violence from past and present intimate partner(s). DEFINITION OF FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE No formal definition of family and domestic violence is used. Callers self-identify as needing the counselling/information/advocacy services provided by the DV Line. This database is solely for capturing information about family and domestic violence. Aspects of family and domestic violence captured by the data are:

This database records the number of calls to the DV Line and information about callers and/or victims of Domestic Violence. Caseworkers at the DV Line enter information into the database based on the information gathered during the telephone call. Each caseworker records the information about the calls they receive in an SPSS file. All SPSS files are then collated for reporting purposes. SCOPE / TARGET POPULATION This database captures the number of calls to the DV Line. A call is a record of communication to the DV Line regarding a person, with or without children, who is experiencing or has experienced domestic violence and is requesting assistance, information about domestic violence or other information.
