HOSPITAL FACILITIES
In 2013-14, there were 204 Acute and psychiatric hospitals with operating theatres, up from 201 in 2012-13. These hospitals contained a total of 1,097 operating theatres, 43 more than in 2012-13. The average number of sessions per operating theatre per week was 8.4. On average, 34.6 hours of theatre time per theatre per week were used across Australia, with Tasmania, the Northern Territory and the Australian Capital Territory recording the highest average at 38.7 hours.
Generally, the more operating theatres a state had, the more operating theatre and recovery room nurses were employed in that state. In 2013-14, the number of nurses per theatre was 7.1.

In 2013-14 there were 33 Acute and psychiatric hospitals in Australia which offered accident and emergency services, down one from 2012-13.
In 2013-14 there were 2 million occasions of service in non-admitted patients services in Acute and psychiatric private hospitals in Australia, a decrease of 6.8% from 2012-13. Of these the most common services provided were Allied health services (653,500 occasions of service) and Accident and emergency (526,800).
