BREAK IN SERIES

Following the implementation of the National Crime Recording Standard (NCRS), there has been significant change to the basis of the Recorded Crime – Victims collection when compared with years prior to the 2010 publication. Following implementation actions by states and territories, the 2010 publication marked the first year in a break in series for the collection and the 2011 publication marks the second year in the new time series. Therefore comparisons should not be made between data in this publication and Recorded Crime – Victims statistics published prior to the 2010 publication.
