AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY In 2012, there were 6 victims of homicide recorded in the Australian Capital Territory. In 2012, there were 184 victims of sexual assault recorded in the Australian Capital Territory. Almost nine in ten victims of sexual assault were female (89% or 164 victims). Male victims of sexual assault were more likely than female victims to know their offender (100% compared to 70%), with 20% (33) of females experiencing victimisation by a stranger. A dwelling was reported as the location where victimisation most commonly occurred (58% or 107 victims), followed by a community location (24% or 44 victims), including a street or footpath where 15% (27) of sexual assault victimisation occurred. There were 2,386 victims of unlawful entry with intent recorded in 2012; property was taken in 72% (1,716) of cases. In 2012, there were 968 victims of motor vehicle theft in the Australian Capital Territory. A community area was the location of victimisation in 61% (591) of motor vehicle thefts. Around a quarter of motor vehicle thefts were experienced at a transport location (25% or 241 victims).
