LOCATION OF OFFENCE

A residential location was the most common location reported for victims of the following offences:
    • murder (62% or 157 victims);
    • sexual assault (64% or 11,697 victims);
    • unlawful entry with intent (71% or 151,919 victims); and
    • motor vehicle theft (45% or 26,538 victims).

People were most likely to be victims of robbery and kidnapping and abduction in a community location such as on a street or footpath (both at 39%). Other theft offences were most likely to be recorded in a retail location (34% or 171,753 victims).
