EXPERIENCE OF PARTNER VIOLENCE AND PHYSICAL OR SEXUAL ABUSE BEFORE THE AGE OF 15 In the 2012 PSS information was collected about men's and women's experience of physical or sexual abuse by an adult before the age of 15 years (Refer to Endnote 1 for a definition of abuse before the age of 15). Footnote(s): (a) Includes current and/or previous partner violence. Since the age of 15. (b) Includes physical and/or sexual abuse. Source(s): Personal Safety, Australia Men and women who experienced physical or sexual abuse before the age of 15 were more likely to have also experienced violence by a partner since the age of 15 compared to those who had not experienced abuse before the age of 15. Women who experienced abuse before the age of 15 were more likely than men who experienced abuse before the age of 15 to have experienced violence by a partner since the age of 15 (Refer Table 31).
