The 2012-13 area of land used for agriculture in Australia fell by 2% from 2011-12, to 397 million hectares.
The area planted to crops in Australia declined slightly in 2012-13 to 31.6 million hectares (down 1% from 2011-12).
Approximately 52% of Australia's total land area was used for agriculture. Of all the states, Queensland had the highest proportion of agricultural land with 75% of the state area used for agricultural production, closely followed by New South Wales with 74%.
