CONCLUSION
This paper provides information on the use of the Kessler 10 Psychological Distress Scale (K10) as an indicator of psychological distress, and its relationship to other measures of wellbeing. By providing information about the association of levels of distress with socio-economic factors and life experiences, as well as the relationship between distress and self-reported and diagnosed mental health disorders, this paper adds to the research on the use of this scale in an Australian setting.
Additional research on the use of short form Kessler scales is planned to further inform use of this measure.
