VICTIMISATION RATE

Victimisation rate

Changes between 2011 and 2012 in the number of victims had little impact on victimisation rates for selected person offence categories. In 2012, the Australian victimisation rates for selected person offence categories were:

  • Murder, 1.1 victims per 100,000 persons
  • Attempted murder, 0.7 victims per 100,000 persons
  • Manslaughter, 0.2 victims per 100,000 persons
  • Sexual assault, 80 victims per 100,000 persons
  • Kidnapping/abduction, 2.8 victims per 100,000 persons.
