DEFINITION OF FAMILY AND DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

The Family Violence Service defines intimate or family relationships to include those between:
  • partners - married, de facto or otherwise;
  • ex partners;
  • same sex couples;
  • family members;
  • children of either member of a couple; and
  • live-in carers.

Aspects of family and domestic violence captured in the data are:
  • physical abuse;
  • sexual abuse;
  • psychological/emotional abuse;
  • economic abuse;
  • social abuse; and
  • harassment and stalking.

All victims of crime who apply for assistance through the Western Australia Victim Support Services.
