In 2010-11 there were 77.1 million litres of pure alcohol available from beer, which is a decrease of 3.4% from 2009-10 (79.7 million litres). Full strength beer made up 82.5% of all beer available for consumption in 2010-11, followed by mid strength beer (13.2%) and low strength beer (4.3%).

The volume of beer available for consumption decreased 3.8%, from 1,856.1 million litres in 2009-10 to 1,786.2 million litres in 2010-11. The volume of full strength beer decreased 3.6%, while low strength beer decreased 14.5%. Mid strength beer increased slightly (up 0.6%).
